Barter Books is not far away in Alnwick and is one of the largest secondhand bookshops in Britain - 'The British Library of secondhand bookshops' according to The New Statesman. You can sit down on a comfy sofa, have a coffee and quite easily lose yourself for hours. Our favourite shop, and a must on a rainy day.

Gallery with original paintings and prints by several local artists.
- Game Fishing Supplies
Suppliers of game, sea and coarse fishing tackle, as well as hunting and shooting products. Shop is in Morpeth, a short drive away.
- Ingrid Wagner Rug & Art Creation
Ingrid Wagner creates exciting and exclusive art for the floor and wall in the contemporary interior. Her studio is in Kirkharle Courtyard, where you can purchases pieces or partake in a variety of textile workshops.
- Kirkharle Courtyard
The farm where Capability Brown was raised and tutored in landscape design is now a collection of local arts and crafts studios.
- Lindisfarne Oysters
Lindisfarne Oysters is a small family business established in 1989. They produce high quality pacific oysters grown on the seashore within the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve.
Fresh oysters are available direct from the oyster farm and are ideal for dinner parties, celebrations or even as an original gift.
- The Corbridge Cookshop
Renowned throughout the north east as 'the' place to choose all of your cookware and novelty items for the kitchen, The Corbridge Cookshop is a great place to browse on a free afternoon. Whilst it is a 45 minute drive from Burnfoot, a visit to this special shop can be combined with a walk around historic Corbridge with its Roman remains and wealth of speciality shops and cafes.

This fine art gallery in Hexham features the work of local artists and painting courses led by renowned Northumbrian artist Ben Haslam.
